Caitlin Brunell is an eighteen-year-old young lady with a passion to help others. That is how her charity, Caitlin’s Closet, was born. A native of Seattle, Washington, Caitlin has lived all over the United States, and with her brothers Jake, Joseph and Luke, and her parents, Stacy and Mark. Now at home in Jacksonville, Florida Caitlin is ready to keep her charity moving by helping girls all over look and feel beautiful. She is an exuberant and vibrant teen, grounded in her love for her family, her faith and her interest in helping other people in need.
Having taken lessons since the age of three, Caitlin has grown to love the discipline, beauty and athleticism of dance. Her passion for dance has led to her personal career ambition- to be a “triple threat” on Broadway- singing, acting, and of course, dancing. Her commitment to dance is balanced by the demands of her schoolwork, time with family and friends. It is her privilege and honor to encourage girls not just to donate a dress but also to be apart of the beauty that comes from helping others.
As the daughter of a pro football quarterback, Caitlin has learned that her “celebrity status” can- and should- be used to assist others. Her parents formed The Brunell Family Foundation in 1997, which has as its mission to improve the quality of life for sick children and their families. Because of this family commitment, Caitlin has always participated in outreach activities, including visiting sick children in the hospital. As she has grown, so has her empathy for others. In 2006, Caitlin and her mom formed “Caitlin’s Closet” which strives to provide formal dresses for economically disadvantaged teens at no cost, allowing them to attend prom, homecoming dances or other special events. Caitlin remarked that “feeling good about yourself comes from within, however feeling good about your dress gives you the confidence to conquer the world!”
Caitlin is excited about everything coming up this new year. Various organizations and charities are teaming up with Caitlin’s Closet to reach teens all over. With a passion to make a difference Caitlin is leaving her mark on schools, cities, and states across the US.
